This site was developed for a European design competition organised by Pilkington in association with Architecture Today magazine. The object of the competition was to design a house for the 21st century that demonstrated and exploited the architectural potential of glass. |

Glasshouse was successful in generating a great deal of interest amongst architecture students and young architects throughout Europe. In fact, the competition attracted over 2000 registrations and in excess of 750 entries making it one of the biggest architectural competitions ever staged. |

The competition was open to students all over Europe. |

All entrants were asked to register themselves and download the competition brief. Glasshouse entries were judged by five leading European architects. Winners were chosen for 9 European regions, with each regional winner receiving a prize of €2,000. |

In addition there was an overall award, with the winner announced at Glasstec 2002 in Dusseldorf, for an additional prize of €8,000. |

3D animated movies were created for the winners of each region and could be viewed on the site using Apple’s Quicktime player. |
